She was born in Ti Valley, Oklahoma, the daughter of of Salter and Ethel (Cox) Smith. She married Clarence Capers on June 26, 1937. She and her husband, Rev. Clarence Capers, ministered in Leflore, Boswell, Webbers Falls, Clayton, Yanush, Haileyville and Red Oak. A resident of Hartshorne, she died at her home at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence Capers; two sons, Clarence Capers, Jr. and Kenneth Capers; parents, Salter and Ethel Smith and one brother, Opal Smith.
