Charles Louis "Chuck" (or "Bud") Adams II, 71, of Maxwell, passed from this world on Monday, June 24, 2013, after a long battle with diabetes and its many complications.

Chuck was born in Colby, Kan., on March 5, 1942, to Charles and Charlotte Adams. Raised in the heartland, Chuck grew up amidst wheat fields and grain elevators. He graduated in 1960 from Herndon High School.

In 1961, he was wed to Sharon Ann Owens of Edson, Kan. He and Sharon had two sons, Charles Leon ("Lee") and Shane Alan.

Together with his family, he lived in Austin for almost 40 years.
While there, he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs until his retirement after 35 years of service. Following his retirement, Chuck moved to small ranch near Lockhart and loved to spend his time with family, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, watching sports with his sons and reveling in the joys of "Grandpahood."

Apart from his unending patience and gentle nature, Chuck will always be remembered for his unwavering perseverance in the face of any obstacle, no matter how daunting. The example of his devotion to and love for his family is the greatest legacy he leaves to those he loved so well.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, Lee (Laura) and Shane (Noemi); three grandsons, Nicholas, Benjamin and Jason; his brother, William (Teri); many cousins, nephews, nieces, friends; and his scruffy, faithful, fat cat, "Rascal."
