Surviving are two daughters: Denise M. Sutton of Leesburg, FL and Renee E. Wilson (Stephen) of Bedford; three sons: Randall A. Crownover of Furlong, Keith R. Crownover (Lori) of Hollidaysburg and Darren W. Crownover (Kelly) of Coupeville, WA; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and a brother, Gary I. Crownover of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda S. Hoover; and a sister, Margaret A. "Peggy" King.
Russell was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal. He attended Living Water Family Worship, Williamsburg and was a former member of the Williamsburg Lions Club.
He worked most of his life as a meat cutter/butcher at his family's grocery store, Crownover's Market in Williamsburg. Russell loved his job and also simply enjoyed talking to people. His work was his passion, and he instilled this strong work ethic in all his children.
Friends will be received from 5:30 until 7:30pm, Monday, June 14, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10 until the 11am funeral service, Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home, Pastor Robby J. Kagarise officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Salem Reform Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg. Memorial contributions may be given to your favorite local charity.
