Dorothy L. (Mowrey) Ross, 88, of Fawn Township, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, while in the company of family members at her residence. Mrs. Ross was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Vandergrift, the daughter of the late Edward Earl and Alice Maria (Stone) Mowrey. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Natrona Heights. She was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked in the lab at Vandergrift Steel. She also worked at G.C. Murphy's in Vandergrift for a number of years. Dorothy enjoyed sewing clothes for children and her grandchildren. She loved baking candy and cookies and doing needlepoint and crafts. She was an avid reader of mysteries and enjoyed the TV Land channel. She was a member of the Girl Scouts during their 25th anniversary and was a scout leader with her daughter during their 50th anniversary. She is survived by her son, Marlin E. Ross Jr., of Fawn Township; her daughter, Janet (Lawrence) Falter, of Springdale; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-stepgrandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Guckenberger, of Allegheny Township, and Nancy Mowrey, of Vandergrift, and a brother, Willis (Mona) Mowrey, of Clarion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin E. Ross Sr., who passed away in 1994; two brothers, Edward and Richard Mowrey, and a sister, Martha Jean Mowrey. Family and friends are being received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Grace United Methodist Church, Natrona Heights, with the Rev. Glenn Kohlhopp officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
