Donald Lyle Pittman was born on March 1, 1933 and passed peacefully from this life to the next on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at his home in Tecumseh, OK. Don was born in Oklahoma City to Herschel Graydon Pittman and Faye Ola Matthews. After Herschel's death, Faye, Don's mother, married Clarence William Strickland. Donald was adopted shortly thereafter by his adoptive father Clarence. Don's last name was changed to Strickland on January 20, 1951.

After high school, Don spent two years in the Navy. After his military service, he returned home and spent three years in college. Before finishing college, he entered Civil Service at the Naval Aviation Depot Operations Center from where he retired in March of 1988.

Don loved gardening vegetables and flowers, hunting, fishing, cooking, and canning. He enjoyed collecting Native American artifacts and other collectibles. He loved playing softball. He played on the Navy team in Korea and from then on played softball back home in the states. All three of his daughters were softball players. Don always wanted to be a farmer. Members of his family said that Don was never happier than with JoAnn living on their little farm in Tecumseh, OK. Don was married to JoAnn Grimes in 2010.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and mother of their three daughters, Patricia Harold Strickland; his brother, Clarence William "CW" Strickland; and his best friend, "Stew" Sanger.

Don is survived by his wife, JoAnn Strickland and her family; his three daughters, Kim Faye Sanger of South Bend, OR, Tamra Lynne Strickland of Ramona, CA, and Leslie Blair Zamarano of San Diego, CA. He will be lovingly and fondly remembered.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 12, in the Albert Joseph Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
