Elbert Walter Pledger, 75, of Coal Hill died Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., at Turner Hospital, after an extended illness. A native of Johnson county, he was born February 9, 1903, son of the late Levi and Mervie Sutliff Pledger. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Hanson Pledger; five daughters, Mrs. Melba Howell of Route 2, Ozark, Mrs. Ann Pool and Mrs. Margaret Garner, both of Route 1, Altus, Mrs. Sally Hollowell of Route 1, Ozark, and Mrs. Patsy Young of Route 1, Rudy; three sons, Lee of Star Route 1, Ozark, Tommy of Route 1, Altus, and Melvin of Harrisburg; one brother, Hughie of Coal Hill; one stepbrother, George Edgemon of Ozark; 33 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Coal Hill Baptist church. Burial was in Hess cemetery.
