Sarah Jane McEvers was the daughter of Elisha McEvers (1796-1851) and Sarah Jane Knapp (1798-1876), who married 28 Jun 1818 at Athens County, Ohio.

Sarah married David Walk (1835-1916) on 25 Apr 1858 at Pike County, Illinois. Sarah and David were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Woodson E. Walk (1861-young)
2. George Walter Walk (1867-1936)
3. Lillie May Walk Savage Hawk Crawford (1869-1953)
4. Susan E. Walk Tannahill (1871-1938)
5. Sarah Agnes Walk (1873-1895)
6. Phoebe L. Walk Daniels (1875-1962)
7. John H. Walk (1877-1963)
8. Nicholas D. Walk (1879-1904)
9. Lenna Jane Walk Ferguson (1880-1976)
10. Edward Duncan Walk (1882-1935)

David Walk was a Civil War Veteran. In 1870 the family was living at Pike County, Illinois with the children Walter and Lillie. In 1880 the family (parents and second through seventh children) were living at Montezuma Township, Pike County, Illinois. In 1900 the parents and the last four children were living at Montezuma Township, Pike County, Illinois. In 1900 Sarah said she was the mother of nine children, seven living (Woodson and daughter Sarah deceased). In 1910 the parents, and youngest child Edward, were living at Pike County, Illinois. In 1920 Sarah was living alone at Montezuma Township, Pike County, Illinois.
