Mary Jean Nashert, 88, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, June 6, 2021. She was born February 2, 1933 to Albert E. Siddens and Mary M. Siddens. Mary Jean graduated from Catholic High and married James A. Abernathy on March 29, 1952. Together they had two children, DiAnn Abernathy Mackey and James 'Jim' Abernathy, both of Oklahoma City. She was an executive assistant for 48 years. Being the caring and generous person that she was to us all, she became a caregiver to young and old alike. She was passionate about giving of herself to help others. Years later, she reconnected with an old high school friend, Walter 'Jack' Nashert. They shared a long and happily married life together until Jack passed away in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Frank Manley; beloved sisters, Joann Oberst and Kathy Hamilton; brother, Frank Manley; and Jack Nashert's daughter, Dayna Dunnigan. She was survived by her daughter, DiAnn and her children Brian, Amy and Ashley; son, Jim and wife Susan and their children Kristina and Meagan; Jacks children Wally Nashert and wife Julie and their children, Chele Gatewood and her husband Gary and their children, Brant Nashert and his son, Dayna's husband and their daughter, sister, Patty and her children and husband Al; sister, Mary Ellen and husband Jimmie and their children; her darling baby sister, Eloise and husband Kermit; brother, Richard 'Dickie' and wife Dottie and their children; her sister Joann's children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was an angel to us all and loved beyond imagination. We know she is watching over us. We will miss mom dearly and we give thanks to God Almighty for the time we had with her. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 11 June, at the Smith & Kernke, N May Avenue chapel, Oklahoma City.
