Was the widow of Thomas W. Barber, the first fatality of "Bleeding Kansas", his name is in the Capitol's house of representatives. She later married Col. James Blood who was the first mayor of Lawrence.

I believe that Matilda Barber, wife of Thomas Barber, was Matilda Ann Cosby, not Pierson. Matilda Ann Cosby and Thomas Barber were married in Preble County, Ohio in 1847.
