Glenna Austin Draper left this world peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2007. The second of four children born to Torrey Lynn Austin and Ethel Matthews Austin, she spent her early years in Liberty, Idaho on her parents' farm. She was educated in Paris, Idaho and later went on to attend BYU in Provo, Utah. It was there she met and married Harold Maeser Mitchell and together they had five children and made their home in Provo. A divorce prompted her to go back to BYU to finish up her degree in Home Economics Education. She was hired to teach at Bountiful High School and moved her young family there and worked hard as a dedicated single mother. In 1958, she married Carroll Isaac Draper in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and moved to North Logan. Carroll was a widower who had six children of his own. To this already large family, they added three children making a total of fourteen. It was a chaotic, but happy family and was honored as one of Cache Valley's Outstanding Families in 1980. In addition to their own children, many students were invited to live in their home while attending USU. Their family business, Valley Catering, provided jobs for the children and served many meals in Cache Valley. Glenna showed unfailing devotion to her family by her hard work including canning, gardening, sewing, cooking, and other daily tasks which she also taught to her children. She spent many satisfying hours quilting and made each of her grandchildren a keepsake quilt. Glenna was an active member of the LDS church, she served in many positions in Primary and Relief Society. After Carroll's retirement, they served a mission in Kentucky from 1986-87. She loved extracting names for genealogical research. For many years she worked in humanitarian projects and up to her death, was sewing baby quilts to send around the world. She was also active in the Amigas Club and Literary League.

She is survived by her children: Bruce (Kaylene) Draper, Kathryn (Dennis) Welker, Stephen (Karren) Mitchell, Kathleen Noble, Stuart (Vickie) Draper, Janet (Jerry) Larson, Peggy Neuber, Howard Draper, Ross (Karla) Draper, Karen (Allan) Loyborg, Jim (Shelia) Draper, Michael Draper, Kristine (Jon) Howell, and Scott (Kate) Draper. She is also survived by sixty granchildren and 57 great-grandchildren and her sister, Helen Hymas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Draper and her siblings Lynn and Curtis Austin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11th at 11 a.m. in the North Logan 3rd Ward Chapel, 1850 North 400 East, North Logan. There will be a viewing held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10th at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Glenna requested that donations be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund or Missionary Fund.
