James Randle Findley, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Whisperwood Nursing Home, in Lubbock. James was born May 6, 1921, in Kirkland, to James and Ada Findley. He grew up and went to school in Sudan. After graduating high school, he moved to Lubbock and worked at the Army air base repairing gliders.

In 1941, James joined the United States Army. After his discharge, he joined the Civil Service. At Reese Air Force Base he was responsible for the painting, repair and maintenance of aircrafts. He retired after 30 years of service. He had a passion for model planes and trains. James was a Christian man who led a simple life and was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. He attended the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Gail Findley and daughters, Nancy Gay Coker and Randy Elliott, all of Shallowater; daughter, Sandra; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is predeceased by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Resthaven Funeral Home's Abbey Chapel, officiated by Pastor Robert Renteria.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorials can be sent to Alzheimer's Disease Education, 3601 4th St. Room 3A 116, Lubbock, TX 79430.
