“Thomas Moreland came over the sea when his children were young. He evidently had his home at or near Saltillo. Isaac Moreland was a son, and it is probably the the Moreland property lately owned and occupied by Isaac Moreland and later by his son, John Moreland, was the home of Isaac Moreland. His daughter, Mary, or as she was frequently called, Molly, married John Appleby. They were married by Rev. Amos McGinley, pastor of the Spring Run, Pa., Presbyterian church in 1810. Eleanor married George Hudson of Saltillo. The late Henry Hudson and Mrs. Eleanor Brewster, wife of Captain John Brewster, were grandchildren of theirs. The home of John and Mary Appleby was a part of his father’s farm and is now owned by the heirs of Hon. John C. Taylor. The farm is going back to nature. Isaac Moreland was a farmer and orchardist. His son, John Moreland was a teacher. He excelled as a mathematician, and could calculate an eclipse of the sun or moon to the minute.”
