Larmar A. Altman, 79, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born October 7, 1934, in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Henry Leroy and Martha (Meyer) Altman.

Larmar was a member of the Indiana First Baptist Church. For many years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for construction local union #66 until his retirement at the age of 62. His mechanical ability led him back into the workforce in 1995 for Sharp's Paving, where he retired from in 2008 after 13 years of service. Larmar will be remembered as a hard-working man who took great pride in his career. He was a follower of Christ with a strong faith who loved his family.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen M. (Sharp) Altman, whom he married on July 3, 1953; sons, W. Michael Altman and wife, Jackie, of Hookstown, PA, Joseph Altman and wife, Lisa, of Somerset, KY, Patrick Altman, of Indiana, PA, and Timothy Altman and wife, Diana, of Kittanning; daughter, Jill Free, of Shelocta; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis Hollis, of Apollo, and Sherry Palmer, of Indiana.

Larmar was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jackie Adams; and infant brother, Cloy Altman.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA, with Pastor Joseph Altman and Pastor Albert Kodman co-officiating.
