Funeral services for Frank Brabec were held Sunday at 1:30 o'clock p.m., from Sokol Hall, with the Rev. K. O. Zavadil officiating. The song service was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Bernard Klasek, Mrs. Sylvia Slapnicka of Wilber, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smrz. Interment was made in the Big Blue cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Chalupa, Vaclav Kupka, Anton Daniel, Joe Jelinek, John Musil and Jake Kalcik.
Frank Brabec was born in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, on November 10, 1863, and passed away at his home two miles south of Crete on November 18, 1938, after a brief illness, at the age of 75 years and 8 days.
In 1867, when he was four years of age, he came with his parents, brothers and sisters to Nebraska, when his father took a homestead 4 1/2 miles southwest of Crete.
He attended the country school when a boy and after he grew to manhood he helped his father farm. On January 10, 1887 he was married to Miss Anna Sysel and they started to farm on his father's farm. Here they lived for 38 years. They had six children, four sons and 2 daughter, 2 sons died in infancy.
In the year 1925 they left their son, James, on the farm and moved to a farm 2 miles south of Crete, to live with their youngest daughter, Mrs. Anton Novak.
They retired from farming and have lived with their daughter and Mr. Novak since.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Edwin Trepka and Mrs. Anton Novak, 2 sons, James and Joseph, all living in this vicinity. He also leaves 5 granddaughters and one great grandchild. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
