Alfred Delos Bode, 90, of Newaygo, passed away on May 31, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with lewy body dementia. He was born on December 12, 1930 to Herman and Leona (Bean) Bode in Grant, Michigan. He served in the Army from December 7, 1951 to December 2, 1953 when he was honorably discharged as a PFC. On April 3, 1954 he married Celia "Sue" Laisure in Newaygo, Michigan. Alfred worked as a Die Cast Operator until his retirement and then owned/operated Newaygo Rental until his second retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and cutting wood. He looked forward to the annual fishing trip with his Michigan State Trooper friends. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sue, three daughters: Linda Bode of Newaygo, Laura (Bernie) Gerencer of Newaygo, Sandy (Rolly) Wolford of Newaygo; three "other kid"s: Becky Johnson, Char Butler, Chucky Pummel; three grandsons: Ryan (Kristy) Wolford, Jason (Katie) Wolford, Travis Gerencer; two granddaughters: Jillian (Kevin) Pulaski, Leah Gerencer; three great-granddaughters: Alyssa Wolford, Layla Wolford, Caroline Wolford; three great-grandsons: Braden Wolford, Wyatt Pulaski, Kevin Griswold; sister Jane (Robert) Bode-Fowler; brother Jim (Jo) Bode; two brother-in-laws: Russell Laisure, Ed Cleek; sister-in-law Marilynn Bode, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Susan Bode, brother Herman Bode, Jr., and sister Dorothy Westbrook. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with funeral services at 1:00 pm at Resonate Church, Newaygo, Michigan, with Erik J. Harvey officiating.
