Donald Jabe Goodmote, 85, of Mentor, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Jan. 27, 1933, in Allegany, N.Y., he had been a Lake County resident for the past 36 years.
Donald was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Naval Reserves. He was also a member pf the V.F.W., Carpenter's Union Local 435, and loved baseball. He was a true fan and enjoyed Indians and Captains Baseball. Donald was "one of a kind," and will be extremely missed.
He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Kathleen A. (nee Warner) Goodmote; loving father of Tammy (Clark) Best, Donald Jeffrey (DeJuana) Goodmote, Rhonda Goodmote, Greg Goodmote, Laurie (Raymond) Hall, Michelle (James) Roof, Nicole (Daniel) Kyea, Donielle Goodmote (Jeremy), Caren (Darrin) Jenkins and Jacqueline (Michael) Harting; cherished grandfather of Scott Best, Sherri Patterson, Brian Best, Shane Goodmote, Misty Goodmote, Raymond Hall, Amanda Hall, Ryan Hall, David Collins, McKenzie Roof, Kyle Kyea, Tyler Kyea, Josh Goodmote-Miller, Jack Goodmote-Miller, Evan Jenkins, Logan Harting and Noah Harting; great-grandfather of 14; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Gaye Goodmote; parents, Harry and Lucy (nee Gross) Goodmote; and siblings, Doris Walters, Bill Goodmote, Harriet Holiday, Etta Mae Carducci, Jim Goodmote, Dale Goodmote and Arlene Goodmote.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor, where a Celebration of Life service will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday.
