Paul Hardin, 94, of Andrews died Friday, April 22, 2005 in an Andrews care center. A native of Cherokee County, he had lived most of his life in Salem. OH before moving back to Andrews in 1982. He was the son of the late William and Mary McDonald Hardin and the husband of the late Myrtle Dockery Hardin. He was owner and operator of Paul's Cab Company for 35 years in Salem and operated a cab in Andrews for several years before his retirement. Paul was a member of the Valleytown Baptist Church and the Andrews Sunshine Club.

He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Hardin Jr.; two daughters, Ann Khan Lowder and Rebecca Hardin; and three brothers, Roy, Gurley, and Vincent Hardin.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Catherine Clevenger Hardin; two daughters, Lucille McGill and husband, Dean of Andrews and Diane Noffz and husband, Darrell of Greenwood, SC; s son, Rick Hardin and wife, Patricia of Seattle, WA; and 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 24 in the Valleytown Baptist Church with the Revs. Ron McClure and Eddie Hardin officiating. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dwight Hardin, Paul D. Hardin Jr., Michael Higdon, Chuck Gregory, Darrell and Brandon Noffz, Tim Jacobs, and Mitchell Newton. Honorary pallbearers were Paul D. Hardin Sr., Austin Ensley, Roy Roper, and Rodney Higdon.

The family received friends from 1:00-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Valleytown Baptist Church prior to the services and at all other times, the family was at 145 Highway 19/129.

The family requests memorials be made to the Valleytown Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Ruby Brown, 2542 Stewart Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
