Dr. "Mac" Currie, passes suddenley
MORRISBURG, Sept. 22 - (Special) - Death came with startling suddennes this morning to a well known dentist in the person of Duncan Alexander MacDonell Currie at his residence here.

Dr. Currie although not in the best of health for some time, had been able to practice his profession not only in this district but throughout the Ottawa valley and from many distant points in the United States. He had spent the weekend at his camp near Iroquois with his son, and was apparently feeling well wen he returned to his home last night.

The late 'Mac' Currie as he was familiarly known, was born at Iroquois Sept. 25, 1894 (5), a son of the late J.H. Currie and Josephine MacDonell. He attended the public and high schools at Iroquois and went overseas in May 1913 with the 21st Battalion and was transferred to the 2nd Battalion in France. He won a Lieutenancy in France. He was wounded and gassed and invalided home in September 1917. He entered the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, Toronto, and graduated in 1923. He then began to practice in Ottawa and remained there for three years until ill health forced him to retire temporarily to his father's farm near Iroquois. He spent a few years regaining his health and opened practice in Morrisburg in March 1933.

In September 1919 he married Miss Hilda Summers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Summers, Morrisburg, the service being performed by the late Archdeacon Carson of St. James Church, Morrisburg.

Dr. Currie was also an ardent hunter and fisherman. He was also a member of the local chapter of the Masonic Order.

The funeral, which will be Masonic, will be held at his late residence in Morrisburg, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Service will be conducted by Rev. G. Oliver Davies of St. James Anglican Church. Interment will be in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery.
