Roberta (Benz) Fadiga, age 85, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Centerville Specialty Care.
She was born in Centerville, Iowa on October 4, 1935, the daughter of Lee and Alberta (Brizendine) Benz. Roberta graduated from Moravia High School. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Fadiga on November 14, 1953 in Forest City, Iowa. The couple celebrated nearly sixty-four years of marriage, until Charles' passing on June 24, 2017.
Roberta maintained many jobs throughout her lifetime, but she is most notably connected to the family business, Fadiga Trucking. She spent many years managing the office for the trucking business. Most importantly, Roberta cared for her husband and their six children.
As a longtime member of the community, Roberta was involved in numerous groups and organizations throughout her lifetime, including past PTA President, Cub Scout leader, band parent, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville. Roberta was also once nominated for Who's Who in America for her many accomplishments.
In her free time, Roberta enjoyed hobbies, such as cross-stitch and needle point sewing, as well as baking.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Jane (Tom) Craver of Cincinnati, Iowa, Jack (Lola) Fadiga of Centerville, Iowa, Joe (Patti) Fadiga of Centerville, Iowa, and Jeff (Melinda) Fadiga of Centerville, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Sha Appenzeller (Thom Strupp), Brandi Lafrenz, Dustin (Brandi) Fadiga, Jessie (Joe) McDanolds, Molly (Drew) Kelly, Troy Fadiga, Lori (Eric) Amdor, Jared Fadiga, Heidi (Garrett) Jones, Haley Gottman, and Hunter Gottman; thirteen great grandchildren, Reese Lafrenz, Caleigh Lafrenz, Rhegan McDanolds, Millie McDanolds, Kade Kelly, Mae Kelly, Kole Kelly, Carter Fadiga, Mackensie Fadiga, Brady Fadiga, Ellie Amdor, Avery Amdor, and Emma Amdor; and three siblings, Wanda Brown of Moravia, Iowa, Bill (Mary) Benz of Centerville, Iowa, and Nancy Judge of Des Moines, Iowa.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Alberta Benz; her husband, Charles; and two sons, Jerry and John Fadiga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. Burial will follow in the Dale Cemetery, north of Centerville. A visitation will take on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 1-2 PM.
