Martin Randall Whipp, 41, an avid fisherman and craftsman, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home at Eagle Mountain Lake.
Martin was a 1980 graduate of Boswell High School, after which he attended Tarrant County College, where he majored in airframe and powerplant mechanics.
As a young man, Martin was a member of the FFA in Keller, and enjoyed motorcycle riding, snow and water skiing and sailing. During a period in the 1980s, he was the proprietor of Southwest Propeller Service in Lake Worth. Although a welder by trade, Martin had talents for poetry, song-writing and wood-carving.

A lover of nature and the simple things, Martin was known for his kind-hearted, jovial spirit. He will be remembered not for possessions or accomplishments, but for who he was outwardly and in his heart--"just a good friend."

Martin was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Alta B. Martin of Lancaster and Mary C. Whipp of Houston; and a paternal aunt, Mary Sue Hubbard, of Los Angeles, Calif.

Survivors: Parents, Harry and Ann Whipp; brother, Greg and wife, Teresa; niece, Anna of Fort Worth; sister, Tyla Holsomback; nephew, Kade Holsomback of Fort Worth; paternal aunt and uncle, Nancy and Tommy Matthews of Groveton; maternal aunt, Charlotte Rasco of Dallas; eternal friends, Rick and Randy Steppick of Fort Worth, Mike Nagle of Tulsa, Okla., Clay Stallons of Keller; and many other relatives, friends and family pets who loved him.
