Shirley Nell Bradshaw Hord was born August 25, 1935 in Menard, Texas. She was the second child of Bell and Jessie Walker Bradshaw. She passed away Friday, May 28, 2021.

Shirley's family moved often when she was a child, living in Menard, Calf Creek, and Bradshaw.

She married Coy Hord in 1950 when she was 15 and his family's farm became her home for 70 years. Their son Billy was born in 1955 and son Cody in 1961.

Shirley was hard working. She worked first as a farmer's wife and helper and then as a stay-at -home mother. Later she was the manager of the Winters Dairy Queen.

One of her greatest adventures was taking her first airplane trip to the DQ convention in Honolulu in 1984. Later in her life she worked at the Winters Drug Store and the Senior Center. She believed in family, hard work, and good food.

Most recently she was a resident of Wisteria Place Assisted Living in Abilene. She was a favorite of other residents for her friendly nature and sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Coy, her brothers Jerry, JB, and Ray Dale Bradshaw, her sister Oleta Nesbit Vordick, grandson Thomas Hord, and great granddaughter Tattum Havens.

She is survived by son Billy and wife Cathy of Jarrell and son Cody and wife Cindy of Winters, grandchildren Travis Hord, Jerry Hord, Benjamin Hord, Justin Wagley, and Summer Havens, six great grandchildren, sister Joann Claxton of Denton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Winters Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with graveside services following at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery.
