James L. Springer, 56, of Effort, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in VNA Hospice House, East Stroudsburg. He was born March 20, 1951, in Greensburg, and was the adopted son of the late Leslie C. Springer and Martha Marie (Fagan) Springer, of Youngwood. He was the husband of 32 years of the late Catherine Ann (Klingensmith) Springer, who died Aug. 29, 2006.

James was a 1969 graduate of Hempfield Senior High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in food science from Pennsylvania State University in 1973. He was a quality specialist for Nabisco of East Hanover, N.J., for 13 years, until his retirement in January 2005. He had previously worked at Planters Peanuts in Suffolk, Va., for 13 years.

James was passionate in photographing trains, and his work has appeared in several popular railroad themed magazines.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Monday in CLAWSON'S, Leechburg, . The Rev. Robert A. Gago, pastor of St. John Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Homestead, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Forks-Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gilpin Township.

James Leslie Hodson was the biological son of Leroy James and Louise Maude Hodson. Leslie and Marie Springer adopted him when he was just 5 months old from the Orphanage.
