Vera Christine (O'Bryan) Holcomb, age 82, passed away from this life on May 24th, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Vera was born on February 17th, 1939 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Flora (Crites) and Elmer O'Bryan. Vera was an all around great Christian lady. She was known by many and loved by all. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed get togethers and cook outs, as Vera loved to cook good ole home cooked meals. Vera worked as a R.N. at the VA and had a passion for helping people. She married Cecil Holcomb in July, 1989 and they "completed" each other, as their relationship is a true testimony in itself. Cecil was a pastor for many years and Vera was by his side always. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Vera is survived by her husband, Cecil of the home; children, Brenda Johnson and husband Norman of Talihina, Sharon Huie and husband Mark of Hodgen, John David Pugh and wife Evelyn of Heavener, Paula Tidwell and husband Eric of Talihina, Gary Pugh and wife Renae of Albion, Delona Holcomb of Poteau, and Kevin Holcomb and wife Melissa of Poteau; grandchildren, David Johnson, Twila Hamlin, Josh James, Lashae Gregson, Amber Stepp, Bucky Pugh, Jeremy Pugh, Stasha Pugh, Kolton Foster, Katie Foster, and Ashley Newman; twenty-one great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a great host of friends.
Vera is preceded in passing by her parents, Flora and Elmer O'Bryan; three grandchildren, Jonathon Pugh, Brent Pugh, and Paige Underwood and four siblings.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers are David Johnson, Josh James, Bucky Pugh, Jeremy Pugh, Norman Johnson, and Mark Huie.
Honorary Pallbearers are Kevin Holcomb, Eric Tidwell, and Kolton Foster.
Services will be on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Albion First Baptist Church with Bro. Darren Goode and Bro. Mark Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the New Talihina City Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma
