Gladys Muriel Smiley, 102, Pleasant Point, passed away May 24, 2000, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born on Big Tancook Island on July 22, 1897, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Frances Slauenwhite. She was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are son, Max Bowser, Pleasant Point; stepson, David Smiley, Ontario; daughter, Lorraine (Mrs. F. Gibson), Ostrea Lake; 24 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick Bowser; second husband, Lester Smiley; sons, Gordon, Vincent, Guy, Donald, Frederick, and Warren Bowser; daughters, Pearl (Mrs. W. Brewer); Verda (Mrs. V. Baker); Leona (Mrs. C. Conrad); and Marlene (Mrs. R. Walker); stepdaughter, Victoria Smiley; brothers, Ervin, Morris, George, and Frederick; sisters, Ida (Mrs. R.
