She married Fred A. Nelson on October 21, 1955.
Roberta was a graduate of Warren Central High School class of 1950. She was very active serving on many committees and an accomplished pianist. She was the accompanist for the Glee Club, Dance Band, Choir and participated in First District Solo and Ensemble contest to mention a few.
Prior to staying home with her family, Roberta worked as an executive secretary for Eli Lilly & Co. and later in life worked for Washington National Insurance Co. and finally retired from mortgage banking in 1996.
Most of all, Roberta loved spending time with family and friends and playing the piano. She was one of the most loving and kind people you could ever meet. Her loving spirit will be missed by all of us that were lucky enough to know and love her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Fred A. Nelson; five children, Bobbye Crawford, Bradley (Bethany) Nelson, Brian (Kimberly) Nelson, Barton Nelson, and Frederick (Kristin) Nelson; and brother, Robert J. McConnell (Greensboro Georgia); 12 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by a daughter-in-law, Bethany (Hyslop) Nelson.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel, located at 325 East Carmel Drive. Services immediately following the visitation at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN
