On Saturday morning, January 30, 2021, John Moors Bradley of Manchester MA passed at the age of 98 after a heroic battle with Covid-19. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. During his illness, he had face time with all his family. He will be missed. John was born on September 27, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts to Ralph and Eleanor (Cabot) Bradley. He received his undergraduate degree from Williams College in Williamstown in 1943, and masters from MIT in Cambridge MA in 1947 after enlisting in the World War II effort. He started work as a chemical engineer for Exxon in 1947 and in 1949 he joined the Cabot Corporation as a research engineer. On September 14, 1950, he married Jane Dysart Carpenter. They raised four children, Julie, Ralph, Frank and Didi. John had a passion for many things. He was an avid sailing racer who won numerous awards and was the National Flying Tern champion for many years. He also was a dedicated downhill and cross-country skier. In the spring, one could find him white water canoeing with his family. He also had insatiable curiosity and was awarded numerous patents. His last one was earned when he was in his nineties. John was a devoted family man who deeply loved his wife, Jane, his four children and all his extended family. A week before he passed, he was busily assembling almost a hundred years of videos of family events going from his childhood to the present. John Bradley was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Bradley, his mother, Eleanor Cabot Bradley and his wife, Jane Carpenter Bradley. He is survived by his four children and spouses, Juliet W. Bradley of Truckee California, Ralph Bradley II and John Mahi of Sugar Hill New Hampshire, Francis M. Bradley and Adrienne W. Bradley of Manchester Massachusetts, and Jane D. Blau and Richard N. Blau of Manchester Massachusetts. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street Beverly, MA 01915. The date for his life celebration will be determined at a future date.
