Judith L. Schnell, 57, mother, wife, grandmother, sister and true friend, died unexpectedly from a sudden massive overwhelming infection, on Nov. 28, 2006.
She was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Mount Vernon. During her childhood she lived in California and New York. She graduated from East Chester High School, and went on to the State University of New York at Cobleskill and graduated from the State University College at Oneonta, where she met her husband, Harry "Buddy" Schnell.
Judy went on to work at Hartwick College for 30 years, where she met many of her close friends. She put her heart and soul into her family and friends. One of her passions in life was cooking for her friends and celebrated them through her many "theme" get-togethers.
She and her husband bought a condominium on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where they enjoyed time together and recently vacationed on the beach.
She also loved making her bead jewelry for friends and family.
Judy's greatest joy was her little granddaughter, Isabella. She spent as much time with her as she could, enjoying their Thursday nights together.
Judy will be greatly missed by her husband of 33 years, Harry "Buddy" Schnell; her daughter, Heather Babbitt, her son-in-law, Rich Babbitt; her son, Dustin Schnell; and her wonderful granddaughter, Isabella Babbitt; her sister, Vivian Seman; her mother, Adeline Anello; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. Judy also leaves behind many dear friends, friendships she highly cherished.
She was predeceased by her father, Patsy Anello; and brother, Theodore Anello.
Calling hours will be at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Oneonta at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass. There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Schnell residence on Lower Reservoir Road after the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army Angel Tree, care of Hannaford Supermarket, 705 State Highway 28, Oneonta. Help a child this Christmas, Judy's favorite holiday.
