Mrs. Murr was married in 1863 in Union county, Illinois, and moved to Texas county some five years later, where she lived on the same farm until a few years ago, when the family moved to Oklahoma. There her husband met with an accident which resulted in his death, and she has made her home with her son, Frank, most of the time since.
Last May her youngest son, Charley, was killed by lightning in Colorado and brought home for burial in the old family cemetery; and Mrs. Murr's death was very sudden, being caused by a stroke of paralysis.
All her children were present at the funeral, there being six sons and two daughters still living. She has three daughters and two sons dead.
Mrs. Murr had been a member of the Baptist church for many years and will be sadly missed by her relatives and other friends as she was a good neighbor. Many of us have enjoyed the hospitality of her home in days past. While it is very sad to have a loved mother called away so suddenly -- and without warning, we would say to her children:
"Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye"
To the dearest on earth to me --
And my sad heart aches
'Till it nearly breaks --
Is it aught to him?
Does He see?
Oh, yes, he cares!
I know he cares;
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary,
The long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares."
