Clintondale, NY - Denise V. Gunn-Totten, 63, of Clintondale, NY, passed away on January 9, 2016 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie on April 2, 1952, she was the daughter of Edward Gunn and Virginia Mastrovito Gunn. Denise was a 1970 graduate of Arlington High School and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. On September 15, 1990 Denise married John W. Totten at the Champagne Cellars in Highland, NY and he survives her at home. Denise had worked in food service for Vassar College. She was also a member of the Rogers Point Boating Association. She had a love of gardening, the stars and moon and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Denise is survived by her mother, Virginia, of Pleasant Valley, NY and her siblings and their spouses; Donna Fischer (James) of Crawfordville, FL, Edward Gunn (Jessica) of Dawsonville, GA, Jeanette Beaver (Mark) of Highland, NY, Michael Gunn (Cynthia) of Tallahassee, FL, Maureen Sears of Hyde Park, NY, Marie Greaves (James) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Thomas Gunn (Helen) of Tallahassee, FL, William Gunn (Dina Patricia) of Queens, NY, Elisa Merendino (Frank) of Gaithersburg, MD, Richard Gunn (Lisa) of Buffalo, NY and Andrea Savino (Ralph) of Panama City Beach, FL. In addition, Denise is survived by her mother-in-law Carolyn Totten and sister-in-law Eileen Totten, both of Clintondale, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Edward in 2011, her brother James Gunn in 1971 and her sister, Joanne Meckelvaney in 2011. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
