John A. Little Sr., 82, of 562 E. King St., died at 10:37 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, in Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.

Born Sept. 22, 1919, in Ridgefield Park, N.J., he was a son of the late Charles B. and Cora Benedict Little.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg.

A 1937 graduate of Croton-Harmon High School, Croton, M.J., he also graduated from the former Chambersburg Business College.

Retired since 1989, he was a salesman for 30 years for Sears Roebuck & Co., Chambersburg.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division in the Rhineland, the Ardennes and the Central Europe Campaigns.

He received the Good Conduct medal; World War II Victory medal; American Campaign medal; European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with three Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead.

In addition to his wife, Elaine S. Shontz Little, whom he married June 21, 1951, surviving are a son, John A. Jr. of Chambersburg; a daughter, Patricia Oliver of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Heather and Holly Oliver, both of Chambersburg; three grandsons, Sean W. Little of Charlotte, N.C.,and Scott A. and Shane M. Little, both of Chambersburg; a sister, Jean Gillian of Shippensburg; a niece, Virginia Hege of Chambersburg; and a nephew, Charles Little of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
