Obit from Hammond Times March 16, 2007; Margaret Puskar, age 90, of Merrillville, IN passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at St. Anthony Hospice Center. A lifelong area resident she was born in Gary, IN to the late Michael and Anna Oprisko on January 17, 1917. She was the true matriarch of her family. Prior to becoming a member of St Stephen Martyr Church, she was a longtime active member of the former Holy Trinity Church in Gary. Also a lifetime member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association-"Jednota"
Margaret is survived by seven children: daughters: Margaret(Mitch)Uzelac of Merrillville, IN. Alberta(Terry) Bronowski of Crown Point, IN. Angela(Calvin) Caldwell of Valparaiso, IN and Rosemary(Robert) Zemilk of Portage, IN sons: Mike(Modean)Puskar of Porter Township, Edward (Ramona) Puakar of Hobart, IN and Paul Puskar of Merrilleville, IN. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren: one brother Al(Ann)Oprisko of Portage, IN., many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime family friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Mike D. Puskar and brother Mike Oprisko.
Funeral services will be Monday March 19, 2007 at 9:00a.m. from Burna Funeral Home(Crown Point) to St Stephen Martyr Church 5920 Waite Streeet, Bonaire/Wright Subdivision, Merrilleville for a 10:00a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev.
