Peggy's life was dedicated to education. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Peggy went on to serve as Dean of Students and Admissions at her Alma Mater and also at Westminster Choir College in New Jersey as well as at Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
After Peggy retired, she moved to Center City Philadelphia from Manhattan, New York. There she met Alden Ulrich and they married in 1997. Peggy enjoyed the opera and symphonic music. She was a volunteer for many years at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. She endowed the Peggy MacLaren Ulrich Scholarship/Fellowship, a comprehensive fellowship/scholarship for singers that provides both a monthly fellowship (to help with living expenses) and tuition support for one resident artist annually. Peggy also donated generously to many educational institutions and the Salvation Army throughout her life.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Alden, sister Merle and parents. She is survived by four stepchildren, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two nephews, two godsons and many cousins. Peggy loved laughter, hugs and family who called her by her nickname "Boots." She leaves a legacy of grace, joy, compassion, love and generosity to all who knew and loved her.
