The last of a family of four children, he was born July 3,
1862, in the Town of Western, a son of Israel and Sarah Ann VanDewalker Rogers.
On Jan, 13, 1887 in the Town of Western, he married the former Matilda Klossner. She died May 12, 1951.
At the age of 18, Mr. Rogers opened a general store at Dunbrook which he operated for many years. At that time the Black River Canal was in operation and he sold to canal workers as well as area residents. He also operated a farm in the area for many years, and had held several political offices.
Mr. Rogers came to Boonville in 1924 where he carried mail. Later he operated an antique store on Main St. for 26 years.
He was a member of the Boonville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Fitch and Mrs. Grace Brownell; one son, Wilbur W. Rogers, all of Boonville; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
