Helen Carnella Smith Hopkins, age 83, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Friday, May 14, 2021.

She was born January 28, 1938 in Wythe County, daughter of the late Meek Bishop Smith, Sr. and Etta Irene Burchett Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Garland Smith and two half-brothers, Billy Alley and Carl Alley.

She was a member of Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Hopkins; her daughter, Carla and Tony Cannoy of Wytheville; two grandchildren, Thomas Michael and Lauren Cannoy, Tyler Matthew Cannoy; great-grandchildren, Jordan Carolina Cannoy and Palyn Angelle Cannoy; sisters, Beverly Hamilton of Nashville, TN, Dreama and Lace Bowman of Hillsville, VA, Rejeania and Eddie Archer of Max Meadows and Renee Beaver of Ivanhoe, VA; sister-in-law, Pauline Alley of Irving, TX; brothers, M.B. Jr. and Mary Smith of Piney, Clarence Smith of Rural Retreat, Sherman and Betsy Smith of Max Meadows. Several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be heldTuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Collins, Reverend Randy Morris and Reverend Mike Ingo officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA.
