In Metamora, IL, she was born on July 15, 1937, at home to Arnold R. and Evelyn F. (Himmel) Ahrens.
Surviving are sisters-in-law, June Ahrens of Metamora and Norma Lee Ahrens of Eureka, many nieces, nephews, and special caregiver, Sharon Gruber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Willard and Kenneth Ahrens; sister, Marlene Ahrens; stepmother, Florence Ahrens; and two stepsisters, Alice Schierer and Shirley Adams.
Helen had worked in child care for 30 years. She was a longtime member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Washington.
