Harvey Robert Grindstaff, age 86, 0f Carson Street in Marion, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Care Partner Solace Center in Asheville.
Born on June 30, 1934 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Kelcie and Vallie Willis Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons; Jerry and Bobby Grindstaff; his stepson; Bobby Silvers; his grandchildren; Brandy Tollie, Joey Grindstaff, Brooke Tollie, and Ariel Tollie; his brothers; Clifford, Milt, and Blaine Grindstaff; and his sister; Magdalene McKinney.
Harvey was a member of the Harvest Time Baptist Church in Marion and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He enjoyed building and could make anything from wood. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, NASCAR racing and watching old western movies.
Left to cherish his memories are his son; Joe Grindstaff and wife, Debra of Marion; his daughters; April Grindstaff of Greenville, SC and Tammy Street of Marshall; his grandchildren; Timothy Autrey, Kaleigh Bushyhead, Nicodemus Bushyhead, Kandra Buchanan, Gabriel Hughes, and Landon Street; and his great grandchildren; Dylan Grindstaff, Savannah Tollie, Niko, Zayia, Meila, Tanasi, Jadaiden, Julian, Bentley, Xander, Addie, Payton, and Aliza and his great great grandchild; Jaden.
The funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Trent McKeehan officiating. Interment will be in the Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
