James T. Murphy a 29 year resident of Warwick, went to his rest on July 3, 2008 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was 86 years old.

Born on June 10, 1922 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Anna and William Murphy and Michael Timmons.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mildred A. Murphy, on September 21, 2007.
An Army World War II veteran, James was a retired Timekeeper for Horn Construction, a member of Local 15D Operating Engineers, American Legion Post 214, and a communicant of St. Stephen's RC Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Florence Wood and her husband Robert, of Warwick; his son, Robert Murphy of Warwick, and daughter, Patricia Plunkett and her husband Glen, of Sugar Loaf. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Murphy. James is also survived by seven grandchildren: Robert and his wife Lorraine, Douglas and his wife Amy, Brian and his wife Rachel, Jennifer Caldwell and her husband Stephen, Nicole, Matthew and Krista Marie Plunkett; his great-grandchildren: Melissa Hooper, Devin, Logan & Allison, Kailyn & Tyler Wood; a sister, Anna Timmons. He is predeceased by brothers Joseph, John, Edward, Thomas and William and one sister, Agnes.
A family statement reads: "He was a loving and wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who devoted his life to his family."
Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at St. Stephens RC Church. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
