Our most beloved Mother and Grandmother, Gunda Helene Eldemire, has left behind the worries of this world and joined her mother, Agusta, and her father, Hans Fleischmann, along with her sisters Marie, Hermania and Elizabeth, in heaven's garden blessed by our Heavenly Father, on September 17, 2008, at the age of 88.

With love, humor and that German determination, Gunda raised her four children Phyllis, Linda, Charlie and Ronnie, in Port Arthur Texas. All through their lives they have been devoted to their mother, coming together frequently to tell the stories of their childhoods including the many times they went fishing, camping and driving cross-country on family vacations. Gunda's house was the one at which all the neighborhood kids would spend time as they knew Gunda would make them feel special. Even as these children grew up, they would come by to say hello to someone they considered a friend. During WWII, Gunda worked as a telephone operator. After many years of raising her children, Gunda returned to the workplace at KMART where she was awarded Employee of the Year. Her favorite past times were tending to her garden, having coffee and cake with friends and having her children and grandchildren around her. Gunda traveled extensively with her family enjoying cruises and island hopping. Her sweet nature and kind heart made all who knew her love and treasure her. Her earthly absence will be filled with loving memories by those who were fortunate to have her in their lives.

Gunda is survived by her children Phyllis Crauford of Beaumont, Texas; Linda and husband Mike Judice of Port Neches, Texas, Philip Charles and wife Louanne Eldemire of Dallas, Texas, and Ronnie Eldemire of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Todd Judice, Chuck Crauford, Steven Crauford, Robyn Eldemire, Robert Eldemire and Alexandria Eldemire; and three great grandchildren.

The Eldemire family wishes to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas, and the Universal Health Services Hospice in Stephenville, Texas, for their kindness and compassion while caring for Gunda Eldemire.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Spindletop Room, 8th Floor, of the Mary and John Gray Library on the Lamar University Campus in Beaumont, Texas. Lacy Funeral Home P.O. Box 863 Stephenville, TX 76401 (254)968-2102
