Her journey began on March 24, 1974. A beautiful curly headed baby girl, born to the late Willie Pearl and Ray Ransom. She was given the name, Amy LaShon, who on April 16, 2021 stopped counting years at the age of 47, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.

Amy was educated in the Lanett City School System and graduated from Lanett High School in the Class of 1992. Amy was employed by the Bowen East District Head Start Center.

Affectionately known as "Amy Shon," she was adamant about helping others and not only giving love but showing just as much. Amy was the kind of person who would strive to improve the lives of those she came in contact with. Being a die-hard Alabama fan like her late mom, Willie Pearl, she loved the "Lanett High Panthers." During football season, on Fridays you would hear her say, "Tae Tae got a game, I'll see you duh-morro," and she'd walk off and pop her mouth. Being a football mom and awesome supporter, Amy gained so many more loving boys, becoming their "bonus" mom.

Amy leaves to remember her journey: Her husband, Danny Lee Hurston, Jr.; Her pride and joy, two sons; Larontavious "Tae Tae" and D'Amien; two brothers, Christopher "Bird" (Keisha) Ransom and Fred Reed; Mother-in-Law, Phyllis James; Father-in-Law, Danny Lee Hurston, Sr.; Uncle, Charles Pollard; Aunts, Sylvia (Clayton) Gibson, Minister Pauline Pollard, Cynthia Huguley and Ann (Ulysses) Howard; Bonus Aunts; Cynthia James Johnson, Sharon (Chris) James Jackson, Sophia James, and Tommasena (Quentin) James Huguley, and Uncle, Torris James; three sister-in- laws, LaTwala James, LaTasha James and Toni James; Two very special cousins with whom she grew up with like sisters, Kimberly Winston and Lois Mackey; an abundant host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and loved ones.

There will be a public viewing on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM EST at Unity Mortuary. Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST on the grounds of Unity Mortuary, 4235 Fairfax Bypass, Valley, Al. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, Alabama. Pastor Derrick Vines, Officiating and Eulogist.
