His given name was Ranald which was later Randall but his real name is Randolph on his marriage records in Tattnall County on April 18, 1816 to Catherine Miller a native of Bulloch County a daughter of William & Amy (Baker) Miller ..

Ranald or Randall McDonald was born on the Isle of Skye, Scotland the son of Donald James McDonald and Grandson of the Sheriff, Donald McDonald.. Descended from the great Scottish Clan, who for hundreds of years disputed the place of supremacy among the Scottish Clans with the Campbell's...

Randall at the age of 8 came with his sister:
Nancy(1801) whom later married Washington Knowles (1798-1868)they moved to Columbia County, Florida;
and his parents who emigrated to America and settled in Moore County, NC and later to Bulloch County, Telfair County, Tattnall County then Ware County after it was organized and settled near Waresboro where he engaged in extensive farming...

Randall McDonald, being a kind, sociable and industrious boy, soon became a favorite with the Indians and white settlers.. His versatile nature enable him to turn his time and opportunities to great advantage and he soon acquired ample means to educate himself and he became a practical scholar, acquiring also a good practicing knowledge of medicine and surgery...

Dr. McDonald was active in Militia circles in his early years and was commissioned Lieutenant of the Bulloch County Militia, 45th District, March 15, 1819.. On February 7, 1839 , he was commissioned by the Governor as Captain of the 'Ware County Volunteers', a voluntary Militia Company which he had organized mainly for use in guarding the frontiers of Ware County after the Indians had been driven into Florida.. Randolph McDonald was Clerk of Inferior Court of Telfair County 1824-25 and when he moved to Liberty County, he served as Justice of Peace of the 17th District, 1831-33.. In the winter of 1832-33 he moved to Ware County where it appears he was immediately elected Justice of the Inferior Court, serving 1833-41..

In 1840 he was the census taker with John B. Cason his son-in-law whom married his daughter Amy Catherine McDonald..He was a popular and successful political leader and represented his County in the legislature many times. He served as State Senator in 1835 and as Tax Collector and Receiver, 1843-45 and 1846-48, he again served as a Justice of Ware Inferior Court, 1856-1861 and then became County Treasurer, serving 1861-61..

Randall McDonald fought in two Indian Wars.. His diploma shows that he Graduated from the Oglethorpe Medical College in Savannah , Ga. in 1858. He immediately entered on what became a large and lucrative practice and engaged in his profession until his death..

Both Mr. & Mrs. McDonald are buried at the Ole Historic Kettle Creek Church two miles west of Waycross... Dr. McDonald was a charter member and first Worshipful Master of Waresboro Lodge, # 217, F. & A.M. located at Waresboro which at the time was the county-site of Ware County, he served two years 1857-59.. Randall and his wife were faithful member of the Methodist Church..

The McDonald plantation was between Kettle Creek and Waresboro when Dr. McDonald passed away his land in Ware County Lot# 107, 123, 124, 153 in the 8th district was sold to Dr. Benjamin F. Williams for $2000.00 on October 3, 1866......... Bio by D.Powell..............

........OBIT FOR MRS. CATHERINE McDONALD wife to the late Dr. Randall McDonald, whom she passed away at her sons home William A. McDonald of Ware County on Saturday at 2 a.m. She retired for the night and left her candle burning and later got up to put it out; but on turning around she fell striking her head on the bedstead and falling to the floor, dislocating her wrist, bruising her hip and spine and injuring herself badly. Being very heavy and quite of age she soon lost consciousness from her extreme suffering... She leaves a large family to mourn her loss, at the time she was 77 years, 6 months and 18 days of age..
