Inez Corena Bjornstad

Inez Bjornstad, age 93, of Canby, MN., passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the Senior Haven Nursing Home, Canby, MN.
Inez was born along with her twin sister, Irene, to Ole and Lena (Gilbertson) Bjornstad on June 6, 1913, on the family farm in Freeland Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN.
She was baptized and confirmed at Florida Lutheran Church and attended District 100 School, which was located on land given by Ole Bjornstad. She and Irene went on to attend the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN.
In 1936, the Bjornstad siblings took over operation of the family farm. Inez worked on the farm and also served as caregiver to her family members in need. She also worked for a time at the Madison Lutheran Home. They later moved off the farm into a home in Canby. Inez spent her last years as a resident of Senior Haven, where she passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 27 days.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and active in WELCA at Florida Lutheran and Our Saviour's. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing sports on the farm and at the Ag school. Later on she enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins baseball games on TV.
Inez is survived by her sisters, Irene Johnson and Helen Bjornstad both of Canby and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services were at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Canby. Burial was in the Florida Lutheran Cemetery. Birk Funeral Home of Canby was in charge of the arrangements.
