Tom O'Shonessy Is Injured Fatally in Accident Here

Tom O'Shonessy, 68, 1623 Douglas street, long time resident of Sioux City, was fatally injured Tuesday night when he was struck by an automobile at the intersection of Sixteenth and Jackson streets. The victim was taken to St. Vincent's hospital in Perasso Bros. ambulance but died almost immediately as he was admitted to the hospital, Dr. J. M. Krigsten, county coroner, said in announcing death was attributed to a fractured skull......(redacted).......Mr. O'Shonessy was a former government meat inspector until his retirement several years ago when he took up merchant police work.

Here 40 Years

A brother of Charles O'Shonessy, former commissioner of public safety, the auto victim was born January 6, 1867, in Iowa City. He had lived in Sioux City the past 40 years. He was a meat inspector for the government in the bureau of animal industry until his retirement six years ago. Surviving, besides the brother, are the widow, Celia and three daughters, Madeline, Mercedene and Virginia, all of Sioux City. The body is at Larkin' funeral home. Arrangements are incomplete.

Rites Set For Victim Of Car

O'Shonessy Funeral to Be Held Today at the Cathedral

Funeral services for Tom O'Shonessy, 68, 1623 Douglas street, who was fatally injured Tuesday night when he was struck by an automobile at Sixteenth and Jackson streets, will be held at 9 o'clock this morning in the Cathedral of the Epiphany. Very Rev. T. M. Coughlan, vicar general of the Sioux City dioceses, will celebrate mass and interment will be in Calvary cemetery under the direction of Larkin's funeral home.
