He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Television Radio News (TRN) Club, Elk's Lodge 158, American Legion Post 759. He enjoyed golf, bowling, deer hunting and boating. He was a furniture salesman during his early employment years in Macomb, IL. He sold insurance for Met Life, Lincoln National Life and Horace Mann. He started his own insurance business in 1979, Nydegger and Associates Insurance Agency and he sold the company to Forsyth Insurance Group in 1996 and continued selling with them until his retirement in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Venita Buckholz and two brothers, Edward and William "Buck" Nydegger. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy Nydegger of Springfield; two sons: Terry (wife, Janine) Nydegger of Springfield, Randel (wife, Penny) Nydegger of Bloomington; one daughter: Cindy Parkhill of Springfield; four grandchildren, one great grandchild; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one brother: Lee Nydegger of Corpus Christi, TX and several nieces and nephews.
