A celebration of life for Charles Reddish who died July 15, 2015, was held July 22 at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Robert Tinsley officiated; burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Reddish was born March 89, 1934 in Ehrhart, S.C., to the late Adam and Joyce Reddish. His family eventually moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where Charles completed elementary and secondary school.

As a young man, Charles was inquisitive and had many interests. He spoke Spanish, upholstered furniture, made curtains, and at one time owned and operated a neighborhood meat market. He also served in the U.S. Army. In his later years, he worked for the New York City Transit Authority as a bus driver, where he retired.

Charles met and married Parrie Lee Hubert. From this union they welcomed into the world their only child, Roger. Their marriage ended and Charles later married Helen Gantt, who died in September, 2014.

Also preceding Charles in death were his brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Joyce Reddish, and a sister, Lula Bell Reddish.

Survivors include his son, Roger Reddish; sister, Valerie Jackson; brother, Levoid Reddish; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Reddish, Johnny Mae Goolsby, Patricia Roberts, Rachel Thompkins (George), Dorothy Mae Bailey and Doris Rivers; brother-in-law, Paul Gantt, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
