Services for S.L. Allred, age 82 of Richardson, Texas and formerly of Lindale, Texas, are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Bro. Bud Allred officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sylvan Cemetery.
S.L. passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 in Frisco, Texas. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 23, 1939 to the late Arthur Franklin Tracy and Ruby Odell (Cooke) Allred. S.L. grew up in the Lindale and Swan, Texas area. He graduated from John Tyler High School and served in the United States Army. S.L. moved to Garland, Texas in 1976 and in 1983 he moved to Richardson, Texas, where he called home for over 40 years. He married his loving wife, Nina Carol Boswell Allred on November 20, 1965. The two just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary before Nina's passing in December. S.L. was a 50 year member of the T.R.Bonner Masonic Lodge in Mt. Sylvan and worked as a candy salesman for 40 years. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, watching the Rangers, Mavericks, and Cowboys. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren who knew him as "Dada". He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nina Carol Bosswell Allred, 2 sisters, Jane Jenkins and Dorothy Smith, and 3 brothers, James Allred, Lynn Allred, and Doyle Allred. S.L. is survived by his children, Carol Allred Hansen of Frisco, Texas; Steve Allred and wife, Megan of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Hansen, Brooke Hansen, and Sylas Allred; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. Honorary pallbearer is Sylas Allred. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, Mark Lanier, Tyler Hansen, Lee Allred, Bud Allred, and Chuck Hansen. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Organization in honor of S.L.'s granddaughter, Brooke Hansen, and her passion for raising guide dogs, https://www.guidedogs.com/support-gdb/donate
