Milton G. Dorn, age 97, of Johnstown passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 11, 1924 in Gloversville, a son of the late Guy A. and Lulu Smith Dorn.

At age 16, Milton graduated with the Johnstown High School Class of 1940. He received a Regents diploma, an achievement he was very proud of.

After graduation, he went into the workforce as the head of his household. He was a talented machinist with several local companies for over 45 years. He was last employed with the former White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville, eventually retiring at age 63.

Milton was both artistically and mechanically inclined and was always sketching and building something; if he couldn't find a tool for the project he was working on, he would create his own. He made many toys for his grandchildren that are still cherished today. He was also an admirable pitch partner at the family table.

Milton married Ruth M. Dorn on November 22, 1947. They maintained a strong marriage until her passing on June 6, 2009.

In addition to his parents and wife, Milton was predeceased by his son, Karl M. Dorn who passed in 1972 and a brother, Dewitt W. Dorn who passed in 1988.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Ackerbauer (Sam Sarraino); three grandchildren Carl Ackerbauer (Courtney Stewart), Kristen Baker (Thomas), Michael Ackerbauer (Raylene); great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Alexandra Baker, Bryce, Mikhaila, and Austin Ackerbauer; two lifelong friends, Frank Bellinger and Ruth Praetorius, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Johnstown Cemetery.
