Old Resident passes away

Mr. George Heisler, an old time resident of Glenwood who has been suffering a long illness, passed away last Friday and on Saturday the remains were laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.

George Frederic Heisler was born April 16, 1826 near Steubenville, Ohio. He came to Iowa in 1810, residing for a time at Pacific City but for the past twenty-eight years has made his home in Glenwood. He was married June 20, 1861 to Mary Shepherd, who with their three daughters survives him.

He enlisted in Co. E - 15th Iowa Infantry and spent nine months in actual service. He was in Crocker's brigade of the 17th Army Corps - was in Sherman's march to the sea and later was mustured out at Washington, D.C.

Mr. Heisler's death came peacefully after a long illness borne with patience and fortitude. The funeral was held from his late home Saturday at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. R.E. Shaw. A large number of friends were present to pay their last respects to a departed friend and extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.George Frederick HEISLER
