GW HECK, farmer; PO Millerstown; is a son of John and Matilda (Pretzman) Heck; He was born in Johnson Township, Champaign Co, Ohio, in 1837, and raised to farm life and acquired his education in the common schools. In 1861, he married Lydia Norman, after which he engaged in agricultural pursuits on his present farm of eighty-nine acres in Sec 1, Johnson Township, where be has since resided and cultivated his farm scientifically. His farm is located on the right bank of Nettle Creek affording a fine view of the village of Millerstown and surrounding country. Mr Heck has held the office of Township Trustee five years which position he now fills with credit to himself and satisfaction to the public. Mr and Mrs Heck are the parents of two children-Charles and Thomas. Mrs Heck was born in Johnson Township in 1837 and is a daughter of Benjamin Norman.

Washington Heck, aged 70 years, one of Champaign Countys best known resident, died at his home one mile south of Millerstown. Death was due to cancer of the stomach. Mr Heck was a life long resident in the vicinity of which he died. His wife, two sons, Charles Heck of Millerstown and Professor Thomas Heck of Tremont City, survives him. The funeral services were conducted from the late home on Monday. Rev HL Hart officiating from the Reformed Church. Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery. The deceased was a brother to Mrs Sarah Leedom, Mrs Joanna Jones and Samuel Heck of this village.
