Angelo was born in Carlentini, Sicilia, Italy to Santo Buda and Angelina Spina. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1913, sailing aboard the Sant'Anna.

Angelo was married to Tranquilla Maria Riva on June 21, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, and they had two children, twins Louis and Lucille. They were so named because they were born during the weekend of Omaha's Santa Lucia Festival.

Angelo was a grocer and owned Buda Grocery in Little Italy.

Angelo was a long-time member of the Santa Lucia Festival Committee in Omaha, serving as treasurer, vice-president, and president. He was posthumously named the honorary president of the 2005 festival.
