Halminiak, Eleanor (nee Bemowski), age 95, passed away on October 26, 2007 at The Tillers Nursing Home in Oswego. She was born in Stevens Point, WI to Stanley and Martha (Literski) Bemowski. Eleanor and her husband Nicholas raised their two sons in Chicago where she resided the majority of her life. She loved to sew, do crafts, play cards and socialize with friends and family. Eleanor also enjoyed taking her grandchildren on trips to Wisconsin to visit family. She had a strong work ethic and worked as a "Harvey Girl" waitress at Fred Harvey's Restaurant in the Dearborn train station and went on to work in the offices at the Railroad for 20 years. In the past few years, Eleanor enjoyed many afternoons talking in the sunroom with the friends she made at the assisted living facility where she resided and playing dress up with her great-grandchildren, Gianna and Joanna. Eleanor was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be missed by all. We will always remember her simple, loving ways, her work ethic, generosity and patience. Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Jerome (Tina) and Ronald (the late Joanne) Halminiak; 13 grandchildren, Carolyn (Steve) Dreyer, John (Krista) Halminiak, Mary (Ron) Sochacki, Matthew (Vicky) Halminiak, Luke (Theresa) Halminiak, Julie (Joseph) Gambino, Michael (Daphne) Halminiak, Brian, Kevin, Maureen , Christina, Mark and Alice Halminiak; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruthie (the late Richard); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by many loved ones including her parents; 10 siblings; husband, Nicholas; and daughter-in-law, Joanne Halminiak. A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. Inurnment following at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
